Alison Wright is an English actress. Her best-known role is as Martha Hanson in the FX the spy-themed period show The Americans. She received both critical praise and nominations for the Primetime Emmy Award for this. She also acted as Bette & Joan & Hollywood in Ryan Murphy's limited-run series Feud. Wright was born in Sunderland resident, born on 12 July 1976. She began dancing and acting at a young age. She studied at the prestigious Lee Strasberg Theatre and Film Institute and The Barrow Group in New York City. The waitressing gig was cut short with auditions for roles in various parts. Her great passion, scuba and diving, put her in a deep coma when, while scubadiving at in the sea, she suffered a heart attack. Her family flew in to help her in the hospital for six days following her passing. Wright was taken in by her parents as a child and raised in Sunderland. Wright was born on 12 July 1976. She began dancing and acting at a young age. She attended school in New York City at The Barrow Group and The Lee Strasberg Theatre and Film Institute.
